WALL  ART

I create unique textile portraits using the Kinusaiga technique and my own designs. An improved technology allows me to create images from photographs, using various fabrics, both solid-colored and patterned. The sketch is designed on a computer, and then each detail is carefully selected and arranged by hand, making the artwork especially refined. For added dimension, I sometimes incorporate jewelry or decorative fittings.

These portraits can become a stylish interior decoration or a unique gift filled with individuality and warmth.

THE HISTORY OF KINUSAI-GA

Kinusai-ga is a unique art form of textile mosaic originating from Japan, renowned for its elegance and beauty. This craft dates back to the 17th century when skilled Japanese artisans began utilizing scraps of luxurious fabrics left over from sewing clothing for samurai and nobility. These materials were too valuable to discard, so they were repurposed to create decorative panels and ornaments.

The name "kinusai-ga" translates literally as "silk mosaic," reflecting the core technique of arranging small fabric pieces to form intricate patterns and pictures. Initially, only silk fabrics were used, but over time, other materials became common as well.

Unlike traditional mosaic art, kinusai-ga does not involve glue or stitching. Instead, fabric pieces are carefully inserted into incisions on a wooden or cardboard base. This process requires incredible precision, making each work unique. Today, kinusai-ga continues to evolve, inspiring artisans around the world.
